: tj steering problem

i have a 2000 tj with a dana 30 front axle 4" suspen lift. while driving if i hit a sharp bump the front wheels start to go back and fourth till i slow down to almost a stop. any ideas what could be causing this. thanks mike

do a search for death wobble.... many things that could cause... youll find the answer, lots of talk bout it on here

Yeah,

If it does it violently it's called 'death wobble'.

It can be caused by all manner of things - my last dose was due to bending the trackbar and having the axle sticking out 2" too far on the drivers side. I also had too much toe after we tried to get it driveable (after bending the trackbar).

Did you get an alignment after the lift ?

If not set it to zero toe with around 5* of +VE caster and see if that cures it.

lower bolt on trackbar loose and/or the shimmy shock is missing.
