hey guys, need some pics of welded rear diffs, mine is an 85 toy.

Done a search and found a pic. Need some good one to see exactly where to weld.

Also anyone have any good tricks for extra strenght in a rear weld job?

weld the spiders to the side gears in the 8 places,
weld the side gears to the case.

use something to hold the side gears in place when you weld.
do not overheat the case,

weld and let cool, weld and let cool.

there are plenty of pics and info on weldeds on the site.
search and ye will find

welding it is easy cleaning it after is the hard part.you need to make sure you get it very clean,don't leave any slag behind its not good on the bearings!!!

im starting to hate the damn thing. it just seems to put everything in a bind and help break shit when i drive mine down the road to the trails..but it does great offroad..other than offroad,i hate mine


i welded mine in 8 places to the carrier ( each 1 of the spiders on both sides) and then welded the spiders to each other

be careful not to get the carrier tooo hot or IT WILL warp on ya..if your careful and slow,you will get very min. warpage if any ;)

I'm sure I'll get lit up for this, but I dissassembled my carrier and welded in the valleys between the teeth the side and spider gears. I didn't weld anything to the carrier. This was quick and easy for me, and going into a largely stock truck with one case and a 22R. Has worked great so far. Then you can always add a lunch box locker to the carrier if you want to later.
