In the US, all 80s with disc rear brakes are FF axles. This means '93 models and newer though there were a few drum/SF axles in '93 for some reason. Discs is the sure sign. I'd measure mine for ya but I'm on vacation at the moment.

in Oz, we got all as full floaters, and the poverty pack models had drums, and luxury had discs, with drum in disc handbrakes

as for width, im not sure, but id love to know, i know 60s are marginally wider, like 2.5inch than a 40 or 75!

Check section 4.2 of Rob Mullen's Land Cruiser FAQ (http://www.off-road.com/tlc/faq/faq.txt) .

The 40-series rear track width is 1400mm, 60 is 1470mm and 80 is 1600mm. That's 55", 58" and 63".

I am just quoting numbers - haven't gone out and measured them and I don't know how track width is measured. (from where to where)
