: A6 vs York ?

I've read the A6 does 12 cubic inches per revolution vs the big York with 10 inches.
What size tank works best for each?
I was hoping to use the A6 with a smaller tank vs the York.
Any input here? Not a lot of info on the A6, I was also wondering if the A6 needs any type of oiler.:rasta::question:

A6 has its own sump, no inline oiler needed. They are found on GM large cars and trucks untill the 80's so mounting to a chevy is a bolt on. Very high air output volume and psi rating(over 350psi) not sure about volume but it puts out alot of air, I can fill 38.5x14.5 sx's from 10lbs to 30 lbs in less then 45 seconds running right off the pump(no tank, pressure switch at 120lbs) at 2000rpm. If you find one in a yard, take all the pulleys off the donor. This pulley set has the smaller water pump pulley so you also get a fast fan speed and water flow at a lower rpm. I've use the same A6 pump for 4years and never had a problem.

Thanks Pyro, I have a few A6's and a york. I went and looked at one on a 455 pontiac motor I have, it has the dryer or condensor tank on it. It's not quite as big as the A6 unit it's self. If you run with no tank, I guess it would work fine with a little tank. Did you initally run some type of oil in the unit? Thanks

I run a York and am pleased with it. The tank size is up to you. I ran a 3 gallon tank from www.truckn.com. It cost only $33 for a tank that has 3 fittings. It is in the shape of the Sun Performance tank if that matters. They have other tank sizes as well (from 1 gallon to 9 gallon). If you run the tank make sure you get a pressure switch, saftey valve and check valve.

As I said, it has an oil sump, there's a fill plug on the side of the pump, just use compressor oil.

From Isayn's post -snip-If you run the tank make sure you get a pressure switch, saftey valve and check valve.-snip-

ALWAYS run a pressure switch and pressure relieve valve, if you use a tank or no tank, unless you enjoy replacing the air lines.

So you guy's using the high pressure a/c lines and fittings? I see Team Rush posted some nice little things. Thanks :nuke:

I use 3/8 copper line and compression fittings from the high pressure/temp hose off the compressor to the tank. I run an inline filter before the tank. Off the tank I have a quick connect fitting to hook up the hose.
