Where does one find additional insurance to cover what you really got inot it not what Kelly says? My insurance carrier says they only cover the "blue book" and nothing else even at an additional rate.

Back in 97-98 I had a X pro-street Chevy truck that booked at around 10k I insured it for 15k and paid a much higher rate with Progressive ins. That was a value that I set on it. call them and see what they say.

another thing i was wondering is, can i get JUST theft insurance on my rig for a set ammount? Right now i've got liability only and i dont want collision, cause i plan on colliding with rocks a lot. All i want is theft, cause if the truck gets fawked up, i can fix it, if its gone i cant.

Theft coverage comes under "comprehensive coverage" or "other than collision coverage" You can get comprehensive without collision coverage but, not the other way around. I'm not sure what H8Monday means by an "underwriter's policy". There are some companies that will add additional equipment coverage to your auto policy, but you pay a hefty price for it. Theft is a major concern but, fire too would also be a bitch to salvage anything. Fire , theft , vandalism,etc. are all covered under "comprehensive coverage".

when the rig was parked i had just comprehensive, when i put it back on the road Geico told me i had to have collision if i wanted to keep comp.

I don't know much about Geico but, that might be their own underwriting guidelines. Double check with them and ask them to show you where you have to do that. You can't have collision without comp. so maybe they misunderstood or visa versa. You got to understand that insurance companies are very naive when it comes to modified vehicles and that they would rather not insure them just because in the event of a claim they don't know where to start to figure some sort of settlement. So they would rather take the easy way out and just say that they "would rather not insure it" or "they are not a market" etc., etc. They are also in the business to make a profit and auto insurance is the biggest money loser for them out of all the other types of insurance.

Well i called up Geico and found out that they WILL give me comp without collision. I also found out that to add it to my rig with a $250 deductable only adds $17 to my premiums every 6 months :D

I then asked em about covering all the mods, and she told me that they would do it, i just had to tell them up front what all i did, and what it cost so they can enter it in their systems. Also said to make sure i get full value i should send em copies of all my reciepts. Oh and get this it didn't raise my premium at all even when i told her I had 10K in mods on top of the value of the rig :D:D:D I'm startin to like my ins. co. even more than i used to.

Dallas Dallas, I hope you got her name!! I called them about this very item and was told "No, you can't have comp without collision". I started searching around for another company, I guess I'll call them back on this :D:D:D.
