He now admits betting on baseball. This may be the first step to him getting into the HoF. whaddya think?

FUCK HIM !!!!! He knew the rules and willingly broke them.
The penalty for what he did is lifetime banishment from baseball.
He got what he deserved !!!!

I think he'll get in. Plan on picking his book up later this week when it comes out. I'd like to hear his side. I think he'll be on Dateline, or 20/20, or something this week also, so I'll probably check that out too. Do you know if he admitted to betting on the Reds, or just baseball in general?

The news said something about him betting on a team he coached so he would have bet on the Reds. He was a great player and back in the day they weren't the big a holes they are today.

I won't go into the politics of why he should/shouldn't be in baseball.


But, as a BASEBALL player, he was/is one of the greats, on his baseball playing career, he SHOULD be inducted.

I'm kinda split on it, I know he was a hell of a ball player and was there when he broke the record, but like was said earlier, he knew the rules and he broke em. I think they should wait till he's dead THEN induct him.... that should do it.:D

Just read that he supposedly did admit to betting on the Reds. I agree that he should not be inducted, but I still think he will be either way.

From what I read on CNN, he admitted to betting on baseball, but NEVER on the Reds.

I guess ABCNEWS is reporting that he admitted betting on the Reds, but never AGAINST them.

I own stock in the company I work for. I am betting their stock will increase & make me money.
I really don't see how it is that much different than what he did.

i agree. It would be REALLY bad if he bet AGAINST the Reds. Betting on the reds i don't feel is a very serious violation. Regardless, he was a great baseball player and that is what the HoF is about. If they looked into the personal lives of everyone in their i'm sure there would be reason to take all of them out. I mean christ, Barry Bonds is going to the hall and most of his success is clearly generated by steroid use. Pete Rose played clean, worked his butt off and kicked ass.
