I'll be converting an SM465 soon, I'll be clocking my D300 at the same time so I can run a flat skid. Rube makes his adapter out of steel instead of aluminum so I was thinking that'd be a good thing since I'll only be able to use 5 mounting studs instead of 6. Any opinions?

I used Rube for my adapter to go from a 700r4 to D300. Firstly you need time cause it took a month to get mine even though he said it would ship within a week. I also liked the fact it was steel better than aluminum.
I did ask that he predrill the adapter to allow for clocking. I specified the degrees as normal, 7^, and 15^, which he said would not be a problem. When I got it it only had 2 sets of holes drilled. No normal.
Lastly, He forgot to weld the foot on the adapter, the part that goes to the tranny mount. When I called to ask why he said it had to do with the clocking. That's BS cause the foot position has nothing to do with the clocking. And let me tell you without a stick welder it is a real pain in the ass to weld that foot on. There isn't enough room to get a MIG nozzle in there. I only have that piece welded on about 60% I hope it is enough.
Lastly, he gave me the wrong set of installation instructions. Took 2 phonecalls to get the correct ones faxed over.
Good luck,

Sounds like a basic bad experience. Just out of curiosity though, does he have a website? I've never ehard of Rube. I tried all the obvious urls and nothing.

No Webiste that I know of. He usually advertises in the back of the 4x4 mags. I think I did a dogpile search and found his number in a post somewhere.
