: Injector questions...

OK, first off, Townsend, keep quiet! You know where this is going!:flipoff2:

Does anybody know:
Voltage to open injector valves?
Is it straight 12 volts, or five?

Frequency of the injector juice? No real concern for A/F ratio for given freq., just need a starting point.
Is it DC pulsed (Duh), or is it a true square wave of varying frequency?

FLow rates in ml/min or lbs/hr?

I hope to have some 3.9s arriving shortly for longer term research projects, more questions (and maybe some answers) to follow. Yes, the CB is at work again (that's Mr. CB to some of you, you know who you are). Some day, SWMBO's truck will actually roll under its own power.

Peace,
Paul

I have no idea for an answer on this one. May try a Fuel injector distributor or try calling someone that cleans them w/ ultrasound. They may have enough experience w/ injectors to lead you in the right direction or to which injectors can be substituted for another one (if that's whatr your trying to do). Hell, contact Lucas over in the UK and ask them.:)

Now what would lead someone to think such a thing?

I have an alternate source, I feel there may be other options and opportunities to explore...

Thanx,
PT

such as pattern or volume?

Lucas hotwire is essentially a copy of KE jettronic. Not much to play with there.

Hotwire is control firmware. True to form, I'm concerned with hardware.

Look at a wiring diagram. Off the top of my head I think one of the system relays sends 12 volts to all the injectors. And the computer uses a driver to modulate a ground. That is my recollection, I looked at this a couple years ago. I have sucessfully substituted SAAB injectors in stockers and FORD 302 injectors in fuelers. 3.5 and 3.9 Rover v8's. The computer seems to deal with the 302 injectors just fine. Of course this is propietary information and I will require a percentage of sales by CB parts.

Yeah, CB. I know where this is going... Glad our conversation may have kickstarted some activity.

I've also done some additional research around our conversations and have some interesting updates...

Anyway, to the question at hand. A quick search on Google led me here (I used to "search" for the DoD and know some tricks).

Scroll down - lots of good info. But 12V seems to be the magic number.

Actually, I think I have standing for your unauthorized divulging of MY proprietary intellectual knowledge!:flipoff2:

Something about convergent research, kind like Rafinesque and Darwin!

Given the ridiculously low resistance of the injecctor coils, I'm surprised 12 volts is used with no more heatsink than there is, the duty cycle must be very low as a result of the square wave nature of the signal...

My brain hurts, I'm gonna work on a Series truck or an old Rangie to relax!
