Need some help here.
I'm trying to put in an Advance Adapters SYE kit on my '00 TJ, but I haven't even gotten the damn transfer case apart yet. Here's my problem:
There was a large disc on the rear output shaft that the instructions called a "slinger". I pryed that off as instructed, but underneath it was another disc that is apparantly keeping the tailhousing from sliding off the shaft. I've tried to take this piece off, starting with the 'ol hammer, but that didn't work. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

I seem to remember some sort of snap ring thingie before the tail housing could be removed...

Describe this other disc. I assume you already have the harmonic balancer and tailshaft housing off.

You talking about your oil pump????? hopefully you didn't damage it. it's a VERY tight fit on the splines and it's a jiggle on and off operation. if that is what it was, better make sure you didn't damage it.

No, I wasn't the oil pump. The piece was on the outside of the housing, the instructions called it a "slinger".
