got mad at the wiring in my cruiser and decided to start over. I wanted a cruiser fuel guage in a standard 2 1/16 guage. obviously they don't make those so I made my own. Here is the result

thanks

A friend of mine did that years ago. Works great.

Now I know what to do when I change all my guages, thanks. Did you just use an old guage housing to set it in, if so any thing to look for?

I rewired my crusier and installed new gauges also, and sence I went with the Autometer Phantoms I wanted to use all the same so I purchased from Summit the fuel guage for a Chrysler. It works nearly perfect if I remember right the gauge resistance was from 8-78 ohms almost the same as the cruiser so full is full and empty means I have 4 gallons left (I measured it before I would trust the gauge) I also used a mechanical oil pressure gauge that reads 0-150 to tell me how much air pressure I have in the OBA system.

getting the cruiser gauge to fit was pretty gravy. I started by shaping the original guage til it fit in the can. I had to grind away some material so that the fuel guage face was not physically attached to the guage anymore. if you do it you will see what im talking about. The new guage housing holds the guage face in the correct position. The only other thing was to file out the holes on the back of the can becaue the cruiser sending posts are slightly farther apart then the new gauge can. the only other trick is to get the old guage apart. I will be building a new guage panel today and will most likely post pictures.

live wire: damn it I thought I found something cool
