After MM's post the other day about how she thinks I'm not fat, I got to thinking (shut up, I know it's dangerous to overload that anemic squirrel running my brain function:p ) How many people actually have a TRUE self image of themselves, I mean if you can close your eyes and picture your self and then actually look at yourself in the mirror, would the image be the same? I know it's not humanly possible for a woman to answer this question because they all think they are either over weight or are God's gift to men. So lets hear it.

With a body and face like mine, there's no need to distort the truth. I'm a fine specimen and I know all the ladies think so, no need for mirrors.

I know exactly how ugly and bowlegged I am.

so who are you wanting to respond exactly? I use to think i had a big nose till i met this girl i nicknamed toocan sam at the bar. She had a great body and cute face if you saw her from straight on but her nose was something out of a cartoon i swear. Well me being drunk that nite went around the bar collecting donations from people to get her a nose job its amazing what drunk people will give out at first they were like nope and when i pointed her out the cash came to hand. I managed a little over 200 bucks went up to her and told her that this was a start on the donation party to buy her a new nose. Boy was she pissed but she took the money anyway :D She did leave but came back the next week and hooked up with one of the guys i knew.

Well, that statement is about as close to home with me as any other that I have read here.

You can't lie to yourself about who you are. At least I can't. You have to see yourself for who you really are every time you look in the mirror. Now what I see is not always how I want to see myself but I still see me. I'm tall with a decent build and most people can't tell that my stomach needs toning but I know.

The thing is I am comfortable with the way I look. I am confident in my actions whether they are wrong or right.

I'm glad to see that someone else has a true self image, I've got an aunt who is a total lard ass (I Love her but the truth is the truth) she's 5'5" and she weighs 280 lbs. She says she didn't notice she had gotten fat until she saw a picture of herself and asked someone who that woman was standing next to her son. I told her it was her and she thought I was kidding her and she was serious!! How could you NOT know?

I see myself as very fat and average/below average looking. I cring at compliments...I see them only as polite lies. The only thing I like about my looks are my eyes. I used to have a better self image, then I got married and he helped to destroy that. I realize now a lot of his negative issues with me were because of his own poor self image, but that doesn't help to get back the image of myself that I once had. :roxy:

As far as my self image is concerned, I find myself unattractive, short, and lacking in the weight area. I wish I was bigger, even if it was all fat, I wouldn't care. I have always thought I was pretty average looking. With part of me hoping that I was above average and the other half thinking it was wishful thinking to go for average.

All I ever hear is how skinny I am... so that doesn't help.

My wife says a couple of her co-workers have said I was cute... but I think she just tells me that to make me feel good. She says I can dance too - but I know she does that cause she likes dancing and I don't, and she is hoping I will take her.

I am pretty confident when I am looking for a job or something... but I fall flat on my face when women are involved. I know that is probably half my problem, but whatever.

Edit: Oh yeah... the last time I was down in Florida - it was when my wife and I were seperated for about eight months. This is the time when I was reminded how shitty I was at picking up women. I can flirt all day with a friend - but I clamp up when I see a stranger I like. Anyway, my Dad and I are in this big night club throwing back some beers. This *ahem* overweight young lady came up and tried to drag me onto the dance floor.

I politely said I didn't really want to dance and she persisted a couple times, but eventually gave up.

Go down to the gym and get measured and have them tell you your body fat and body mass. I still think I'm fat. Mainly because I also have the love handles. Hell, I had them at 8% body fat. Just fawking pissed me off. I'm at 13.5 now. Just past the Athletes fat range. But IMO don't have the "shape" I want.

i look about how i think i look and that's not saying that i look good or bad, just sorta average for a 29 y-o that USED to skateboard, USED to do this and that physical excersize and no longer does. a little overweight, not much, maybe 20 lbs. a little flabby, not bad, but sometimes i suck it in when hot chicks walk by, not always, a little toned underneath it all and somedays, it shows, somedays not. i guess i don't care much because i really have all the time and gym membership, but i'm lazy, i'd rather be welding or wheeling.

When my 2 daughters raided my closet when they were 12 and 16... and put on stuff I hadn't been in for 13 years.... I knew I would never see a size 5 again...they put them on and fit... and I said they are yours... big $$$ Leather - Silk - Lacy Naughty/Hottie stuff... been so long that some of it is back in style :eek:

Screw it... its Levis and comfy shirts from now on...

Dysmorphia is a deadly disease, period. JSA, I think you better get your self-image shit figured out. I understand that a Playa like yourself (all the ladies swoon over your pics) would be worried about love handles, but c'mon. The only reason you notice is because you've always been in top shape probably.

Just work out and eat healthy and let your body do what it wants.

I think only people who were good-looking really have a problem with dysmorphia. I've always been fairly plain/homely, so I think I see myself as I am. I think I'm pretty skinny, well, I am. I thought I was getting fat at 220, I was. Now I think I'm basically in decent shape, I want to be in good shape one more time before I die. Other than that, it doesn't really concern me. My wife certainly didn't marry me for my looks, so who cares?

As for self-image, yeah, of course, being a woman in this fawked up world I have a screwed up self-image. I just most of the time walk around feeling awkward, sometimes giving a shit about it and other times not. At least I know I'm a good person and hopefully the right person will notice this and then maybe like some physical features about me as they get to know me better. It's funny because in my home mirror I feel like I look fine sometimes in it and then I go to the store to try on new clothes and I don't know if the lighting is off or if my mirror at home is lying to me, but it can be depressing and horrific looking at yourself in those fitting room mirrors. I try to avoid them at all costs.:laughing:

I think I have an honest view of myself, I know I'm shorter than average, I think I'm average to below average looking, I know I don't have the exact build that I want and will probably never get it, I know that I can put out more but choose not to at times, I know I'm a "cheap bastard", I know that I'm more of an introvert, I know that I'm not "socially dependent", and I know that most people consider me a "bore",......but I also know that I don't care what people think of me:D
