: Another Driveshaft Ques.

Anyone have a rough idea on the amount of compression needed on the rear driveshaft for a 76 FJ40 with flipped 4" springs and the smaller Confer shackles (1" lift I think)?

As it sits, I measure 25.25 inches from drum to flange. Thinking I need the shaft to have a compressed length of 24". I run both 33" x 9.50" BFG M/T's (lots of room to flex), and 16/35 Boggers (very little room to articulate).

Thanks.

Usually around 1 1/2 to 2" depending on the spring - you might want to think about a c/v out back too-the best c/v you can get is a mini truck c/v - then re position the studs in the drum -we do it all the time-Jess

Jess,

Is it a big hassle to mill the inside of normal spec (US, Imperial, whatever) driveshaft tubing to fit metric Land Cruiser yokes. Counter guy at the driveshaft shop said it was going to be difficult, but kinda changed his position when I told him a buddy just had the same shaft lengthened at his shop.

Standard price is $75 plus $.90 per foot (or inch I forget) for tubing, not balanced (extra $55). Should I expect to pay any extra $$$ to mill the insides to fit?

Thanks.

Fed Ex tracking indicates my front shaft is on the truck (Chico) for delivery to you today (sent it out 12/19). Bad time of the year to be shipping stuff.

the tubing is not what i was talking about but i do remeber the tube question- 2 5/8 .095 i was talking about the studs in the drum and doing the bolt pattern to fit the c/v - by the way the pattern it 82 degree's by 98 degree's if you have someone local doing it- they can figure the diameter- Jess
