For sale down at the local College. I have never had anything to do with Pigs, but I know a lot of you love them. SO... Take a look at these stats and let me know what you think. If you have any questions that I should be asking, let me know too.

4.6L Six Cylinder, 4Speed. Runs Great, unrestored Condition, Great 4x4. Getting more rare all the time, this truck will not depreciate. Removeable top like a jeep. Following is new or rebuilt in the last two years:

Custom heavy wall gas pipe 3" double tube front bumber
New performance Exhaust
Tinted Windows
Safari Snorkel System
Conferr roof rack with custom (wood) floor
Hi-lift Jack, ax and shovel mounts for rack
3 foot tuneale firestick antenna and Cobra CB
New Shift boots
custom marine carpet throughout
custom jump seat straps
2" ball hitch and pintel hook combo (7ton)
hella 550 offroad lights

custom speaker enclosures front and rear

MECHANICAL:

All fluids changed in diffs and transfer case
new axels bearings and seals professionally installed
professionally rebuilt stock carb, by TLC performance
man-a-fre 6-to-1 headers
performance exhaust
prefessionally rebuilt radiator
4sp manual transmission
new battery
fresh tune up (major)

My observations:
Frame and undercarriage rusted (expected for age)- footpans have spots rusted through, size of a BB. Lots of thick red Mud (could be local mud, but..) Has Georgia plates. Swampers are new, wheels are white mags. Upper body is newly painted. Springs are new (As mentioned above) Body looks in good shape, few major carnage dents. Unable to judge seats or radio due to darkness.. Hopefully I can set up an appointment later to see it..

So... based on the above, what is fair market value? he has a price listed, OBO, but I want to see your responses first.

By the way, it is called "Maude"

it sounds mechanically sound which keeps up the value,,,dont take all those "custom" things seriously..."custom" side mirrors, "custom" jump seat straps (????) who needs those...since it has dents and rust, but has disc brakes and lots of rebulit stuff, i'd say its worth like 4 grand maybe..he is probably VERY proud of it if he thinks everything is custom and takes it to get seals and bearings put in profesionally... last time i checked it wasnt very hard to put in seals or bearings, but i could be wrong ... if you plan on building it up, pass on this one, tehres plenty more for way cheaper but if you need a solid daily driver, this sounds like a good one, and it has tinted windows!!!!!

I can tell ya you could trade it for about 2CJ5's and a Wrangler and be on the good side of the deal!

Looks clean, but pictures are decieving. Is the paint original? Hope that front gas pipe bumper isn't welded on, cause that thing is !Mileage? Reciepts? If this truck has Georgia Plates on it, does it have Cali emissions. Smog sucks and it is a 76. I would imagine if the person didn't post a price they want BIG $$$. Depending on running condition and up keep I would pay 4-5 G's for it.

No smog checks here..thank God.
He did post a price+OBO, but I want some real world numbers before I even call him, cause I can't find Blue Book that will price anything that far back.

I'd have to agree with Ranger, 4-5G's. But FJ40's are worth more out here. So I don't know about Texas.

The blue book is really not valid anyway, but heres my take on it...

Beware the rust, the new paint makes me worry about what's hiding beneath. If custom guy is that obsessed he has before, during and after pics of the paint.

Check it, drive it, put in 4wd, pick it apart in front of him and offer $1k less than he's asking.

By the way Pigs are FJ55's

and that is a FJ40. just FYI

My $5 impression

junk or no value added:
front bumper
roof rack
tinted windows
7 ton tow bumper deal-when, is someone going to tow a 35' trailer w/ a 40 series!

should say:
needed brakes, exhaust, and boots which I replaced

tread life left??

Questions:
why carpet everywhere? that kills the metal. Include only mounts, or does it have a high lift w/ deal ($44 item new)? Why was the engine repaired? And rust on frame? like what, AZ rust or MN rust?

really? max $4,000. You can do a lot better with anymore dough. A lot better.

well i have to admit with out looking at it. it is hard to price but most that i see in texas go in the 4 to 8 range. they are quite proud of them here. there just isn't that many around, so they pull the bucks. i see some of the toy stuff you guys post for sale in calf. and i just drool. mini trucks and land cruisers hold there value very well in texas. my 2 cents mike

Id pay 3000$ for it 4000$ is about right as long as everything is in good mechanical order dont be fooled by all of the "custom" stuff on this cruiser because it is all crap that should be taken off if hes asking more than 4000 pass it up and keep looking. oh and do me a favor and call him a "jack ass for me"

Well, apparently, he values his lovely little "Maude" quite a bit. He is asking $9950 OBO. The sad thing is, I bought my 4Runner for that 11 years ago Now, I know it is not worth $9950, I was guessing about 2500-3000 myself, which Is why I wanted your input. I am going back to the college town next week and will try and get a test drive with my digicam and get some shots of the equip. Thanks for your input.

And, FJ60driver, I'll try to hone up on my lingo

In case you haven't noticed most of the Land Cruiser gang keeps the volume on about a 5 whereas Chit-Chat is always on 11.
