I am considereing using a late 80's camero TPI fuel injection system on my buggy. The guy selling it took it off his Jeep and said that the constant bouncing around and vibration caused two MAF sensors to go bad. Is anyone using this set up for constant off road use and if so how has it worked?

I have a TPI motor out of a 87 trans am with mild modifications and put my yj through hell and back on anything from sand to snow as well as up side down and have no problems with anything at all

gm had problems with the mass air and that is why they switched to the inferior speed density in 1990 even some fixes for the mass air engines were to not look at the mass air sensor and actually run in a speed density mode. my advice skip any pre 1990 gm tpi's and whatever you do stay away from the LT1 as the opticrap distributer setup is in the wrong place for a street car much less a 4x4.

I run a Speed density TPI in my CJ-7 with a 415 ci engine and have no complaints at all with it. It is a bit jumpy at low end but a hand throttle will take care of that. You can convert any TPI unit to speed density and in a Jeep I doubt you would have enough room for the mass air sensor without some type of custom intake.

Go for it :D
