: bushwacker fender flares

Does anyone have them? Have pics? I really like the looks of them, and in order to pass annual inspection the tire tread can't stick out past the end of the fender/flare. So I am going to need them. The only thing that I don't like is that on the rear they don't cover the factory flare. The bushwacker ends, and then there is the natural toyota truck line another inch later. Looks kind of goofy. Can you just cut more of the fender away so that the bushwacker would extend over, or is there a different fender flare alternative?

bushwaker fenders are :rainbow:... espesially on the trail. they cost to much and they look dorky.

If you have to use them to pass inspection. put them on, then take them off later after you pass it:Dhttp://bushwacker.com/makes/Toyota/co/Toy4_84-89_COi.jpg

no, its absolutely not possible to cut any of the fender away. ever. its never been done

do yourself a favor and make them removeable. on for inspection - off for the mall....er trail.

:p

You can use the rubber mouldings from a heavy truck shop like this:

It comes in a roll and is very flexible.

Installed a set last year. Expensive but very durable plastic, even at sub-zero temperatures. I trimmed the rears since I have removed the valence from behind the rear tire. Not hard to install, some cutting required for fronts, which is good if you're running 35's.

My truck has these flares on them. Now I want to remove them, but there are holes drilled in the body, how do i fix those?

Bushwacker also makes extend-a-flares that do just that... extend the flare a few inches...
THey are just glued on (i think, though i may have forgotten) so if i were you i would only peel off 1/4 of the tape to hold it onto the truck (or not use alot of glue) so you can take them off after the inspections are done... and they look decent too (with no cutting either)

just use some 3M double sided Tape or something...:flipoff2:

your going to take it off after inspection anyway, that would make it easeist as possible to take them off

I have the extend-a-flares or whatever they're called (2nd Gen Runner)

The hardware that comes with them are the equivalent of a removable plastic rivet (for lack of a better description). They use the existing holes inside the fender lip. I added a few extra so they stay on. There is a rubber trim piece that attaches to the flare with 3M tape. It is "supposed" to protect the paint from the cut plastic edge of the flare.

I'm from PA and without the flares I'd get hassled by "the man".

I put the 3" wide rubber lips on mine...works good, I have seen a few that used the garden edging and it looked decent...you can get that in 4-6" width...mine came with little metal pieces that slide into a groove made in the rubber and then the screws went through those for reinforcement...removed the wheels and drilled lots of little holes in the edge of my fenders(LOL) then put silicone in the holes and on the screws to help cut down on rust problems.

I was looking at Bushy but after ordering three different sets(and shipping them ALL back because they wouldn't fit, I gave up on them...

Why dont you just put on some small tires for inspection?

the best idead ive heard yet, just steal some tires (used ones from a tire bin) and put them on the stock rims make sure they have 5/32" tread left to pass inspection.:flipoff2:

I bent some 4 to 5 inch wide aluminum to fit the fenderwell and bolted it on. It looked hella lame but it came right off as soon as I passed the inspection for the fix it ticket.

I got the 5 inch ones on my mall rig and with the all pro 1.5" spacers they stick out about 3-4 inches past the edge of the flare. When the cops pulls me over for it i usually try to point out the fact that i dont have mudflaps on so he takes his attention aways from the flares because taking and putting on mud flaps is a hell of a lot easier than the flares.
