Helping my bud do the brakes on his 79 Bronco and the locknut on that requires the special needs to come off. Delim is we don't have that socket and teh auto parts place doesn't either, anyone got any ideas how to get this off ? It isn't like on the Cruiser where when you get oina pinch you can tap it off with a screwdriver. Thanks.

How is it different, isn't it just a regular hex-head bigass nut?
Take a screwdriver, bend the head into a V, and tap tap tappy at a deep angle, it should come off.

The problem is that it is soooo far in there that the angel on teh screwdriver is so flat it won't get the leverage it needs to spin it.:D

Use the end of a file and turn. I took my Ford hubs and rotors off this way today.

Is it a round nut with 4 cutouts in it? If its setup like a Chevy (I think they are), the torque spec on the outer nut is 160+ ft lbs. Pretty hard to get off without the right socket if its torqued properly. You could try making one out of a piece of pipe, but I'd try calling around to your buds and seeing if any of them have a socket.
