Is anyone making 4340 alloy outers for 30's w/o the hub conversion? It seems like buying blanks and having them cut and splined would cost a fortune. [appx $250-275 for Dutchman to do it for inners, looks like more work for the outers]

It seems as if there would be a large market for these; what gives?

DANA spicer original axle inner and outer with a U joint. One hundred bucks..

Who is going to buy anything else for a 30? Not me.

Wheelr, not 4340 huh? If so damn good price.

Belly, where are you getting those from at that price?

Here is my setup: 44 centersection and tubes w/ TJ 30 knuckles. I have 4340 inners but keep breaking the stock outers. My supply of spares is running low so I'm trying to find 4340's outers.

OK - I'll flame.....why in the Fawk do you have 30 knuckles on a 44?

Just like the smaller stub shaft, smaller bearings, smaller brakes, smaller balljoints, non-flat top knuckles?

Or couldn't stand the idea of manual lockouts or a larger, stronger bolt pattern?

If you say it's because you bought shiny aluminum wheels in 5x4.5 I shall have to flame you a second time :flipoff2:

And you obviously have a problem with this setup....what gives?

Actually the setup works very well...

And it was 2 sets of wheels/tires, on-road & off-road. It was my daily until very recently.

The only thing I dont like about the setup is the ears on the outer stub. Sure it is 27 spline but all of its splines are totally incased in the hub assembly. Can't break it unless you explode the hub too, not likely. Doubt you'll spin them, there is alot more contact area than a manual hub unit.

Yea no "non-flat top knuckles" sucks, but I found an efficient/strong way around that. Brakes work fine too.

Don't care for manual lock-outs, I see too many hubs breaking. Yea their cheap to fix, but I'd rather break nothing until it is axle worthy obstacle. And I'm lazy, I've got two T-case shifters anyway.

Who the fawk is spinning wheel studs off, I've never seen it?

But seriously, w/ the 4340 inners, rev cut gears, thick tubes, big u-joints (well only 760x, not a 60 joint but it works), the only thing I'm missing for my needs is 4340 outers. It will be a pretty damn good unit when I get better ears on the outers...

THANKS FOR THE FLAME!!!:flipoff2:

Rumor has it that Superior is to have CroMo outers sometime after the first of the year.

heat treated ears? I have heard their inners will not have heat treated ears, same as Moser alloys...
