guys running hydro assist, is there a prefrence of fluid type; synthetic or just the regular stuff?

I have hydor assist on my 94 yj 4.0 with the remote resevoir. I put in a cooler before doing the assist. Added a 1.5x8" ram and all I did was add more fluid. Never had a problem at all. My steering has never over heated no matter how hard I have worked it. With the ram it added about 1 quart to the PS system. I drove my rig to the trail and back pushing 40" TSL's

Oh yeah, to answer your question. Standard fluid.

With Hydro Assist and Hydro Boost and a cooler mine runs warm. I splurged for a few quarts of Royal Purple ($7.50) and haven't had a problem - AGR and Lee recommend a synthetic.

Now if it was 14 quarts for your auto tranny I might suggest standard....$$$
