In looking at everyones christmas gifts of children and such. Congats to all. I'm curious of what people have done to get a child seat in a fj40? I am also a soon to be proud father. Just about 5 months along. We will find out if its a boy for sure in a couple more weeks. So how about some pictures of kids in cruisers? I've currently got a full cage and think I'll build in a baby seat mount over the aux heater. Any ideas?

No pictures but I put a Chrysler Mini-van middle-row seat in one of my 40's. I got it from another cruiser head, who had welded angle iron to the base and bolted it to the rear tub. They have built-in retractable seat belts, face forward and sit high enough for the kids to see out the front window.

For some reason I can't attach images to my post, but my wife and I have our 2 boys (ages 3 and almost 2) with us on the trail all the time in our 40. We have a Con-Ferr bench seat in the back and the carseats work pretty well. It would be a little better if the Con-Ferr seat back was a bit higher but if you just make sure to cinch down the seatbelts SUPER tight, they will stay pretty secure. I've even used an extra ratchet strap from time to time to make sure the carseats are secure if I know we're going on a trail with more off-camber stuff or one that's extra bumpy.

I have a few pictures if I can figure out how to attach them from here. I usually post from work and have no problems but can't seem to attach anything from my home computer.

One little trick we've found is to keep a long-sleeved t-shirt or something handy for when one of them falls asleep. Once their asleep, they start doing the bobble-head thing pretty bad. We use the t-shirt tied around the back of their carseat and their forehead to keep them from snapping their necks on the trail. Not the prettiest thing but it works!;)

I put in a Suk Sidekcick rear seat in the rear, forward facing w/ fold and tumble. (Fits right between the rear fenders.) Two car seats fit back there just right, however Adam (Boxrocket) is right on the use the ratchet strap thing to lock them in good. The bobbel head thing is no joke when they sleep! I have been tempted to put some Velcro in the head area and just put a fuzzy wool hat on my son.

Two boys, Ryan 3 and Owen 1 years old. Ryan is the only one to go of road just yet, normally I just put his car seat in the passenger seat in the front. The kid loves it! Here we are wheeling last March when he was 2. By this summer I will get them both one the trail! (I am already scheming on building a pint size 40 for my boys….he he he time will tell.)

Mark

BTW: This kid watches more wheeling videos than kid videos. (No joke!) My wife knows every truck video better than I do, and I edited some of them!

My kid rides in the front......I take her when Mom is out of town.

I have only 2 seats now.

Must get an 80 next year when #2 is old enough.

Sorry for the hi-jack but,
Adam, can you shoot me a pic or two of your step/slidder? I'm getting ready to do something and am looking at different set ups.

Thanks

I know its the same old pic but its the one with my son in it. He's been bugging me to get the cruiser running so we can go snow wheeling. And he's only 4 too.

:D I love the head strap:laughing:

my son's been riding shotgun in the 40 to daycare since he was big enough to face forwards in his car seat. I've been trying to figure out how to make room for three in the 45:confused:

My girlfriend was zonked out on rattle snake when we did it a few months ago.

You can sort of see her leaning out the side, totally asleep and oblivious to what is going on...

hehehe.

Don't mind at all Cody. Since the lightbulb just came on and I realized my redstar has expired I haven't been able to post pics. I just sent in my $20 so hopefully I can throw up a few pics tomorrow.

I don' t have a pic. But we put in a bench seat for the kids. They are 6 and 3 but they have been riding with us since they were 1 and 4, the seat keeps them tucked inside the cage. Before we changed the seat the car seat stuck out the top.

Just got back from the wrecking yard to pick up my new...well..I'll put that in another post...Well...I found this rear seat..Came out of a Suzuki Sidekick...bolts down flat o the floor..Locking mechanism to fold it up out of the way....Striker bolts flat to the floor too...Folds down flat too...39" wide..almost perfect..The kicker is the design on the seat almost matches the front seat I have now!!..Just have to dye the material black..purple now...SCORE....$35...Yee Haa!

Nice find! That will be much nicer than the Conferr bench that I use.

I might have to take a trip to the wrecking yard.
