I sold a G52 to Bill4rest on here and he's having problems with it shifting. I'm not sure what it could be. It was in an 84 and everything was fine when I took it out last fall. It had been sitting in my garage until I shipped it to him. Here is the PM he sent.

" Hey dude, I just got around to putting it in today (busy with the new baby). anyway it does not seem like it wants to shift. is there a trick to putting the shifter back in? I was beating on it pretty good too, so I'm lost. I did put in a new clutch if that helps. I never tried to shift it before I put it in so I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong. also do you know what gear it was in? Because it's not in neutral:confused: "

I hope someone can help us out.

Thanks,
flimmy

Does it only have problems shifting when the truck is running? Or is it the same way with the motor off?

Is it stuck in reverse? Found this about 3 posts down from yours. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=104627

It could of shifted into a gear position from being dropped. Try using a flat screwdriver in the top of the trans where the handle goes to shift it back to netural. When you look straight down into the trans, you must see the female socket before the handle will go in. To prevent this problem, I always ship transmissions shifted in reverse gear. This prevents the trans from jamming up!

Thanks Marlin , I hope that helps out Bill. If I ship a trans again I'll be sure to have it in reverse .
