So i went to top of the oil on my disco and noticed there was water on the inside of the oil fill cap. There is residue that looks like there has been water there for a while. First thought is head gasket but the oil does not look like it has any water in it. I dripped the oil on the manifold and it did not sizzle like it had water in it. Im going to do a compresion test this weekend. Any body else ever notice any thing like this?

Change the oil.

When you drain it, inspect the oil in the catch pan and see if there is any measurable water/coolant in it.

Lemme guess, the evenings are cool, the days warm, and, you don't drive your truck for long distances on a regular basis.

Sounds to me like completely normal for this time of year for a vehicle that is not completely allowed to come to operating temperature long enough to burn out the condensation.

If your oil doesn't look like a milkshake, I wouldn't sweat it too much.

If it does look like a milkshake - get in line for PT to give you a head job. (sorry, PT. Couldn't resist):flipoff2:
