Bill,
Sorry should have been more specific. FSJ D44.
I was thinking of getting a set of manual hubs for the thing, lincoln locking the front end and calling it good. The Jeep does not see a lot of miles but still needs to be able to turn on pavement. That way I can turn one hub in the winter for 3 wheel drive on the pavement and turning on really tight trails.
Oh and not to smooze or anything but i love your website and use it often as you seem to be as cheap as I am but you have a much higher standard of quality LOL

I'm not famialiar with the FSJ disconect, but your options are probably to either replace the disconect side axle with a 1 piece (and figure out how / where to put the seal) or find a way of "permanently" ebgaging the disconnect. A popular method for the D30 disco is to take of the disco housing, slide fork to "lock" and place clamp or spacer around shift rod so fork stays "locked'.
As far as a welded front in the snow and ice....I wouldn't. Here in Canada, my Detroit is a handful in the winter in 4x4. Unlocking one hub in 4x4 just makes it pull to the side like a bugger.
