: doubler question

do es anyone make a kit to put a 203 plantitary in between a 700 and a 208??:rasta: :nuke: :rasta:

i hope your rig came with the 208, otherwise there really isn't a good reason to put one in.
if you're gonna do the doubler you'll have to run the 203-205 combo. i don't think anybody makes a 203-208(241) setup yet. what about a clune-v? that'll bolt right in, just a little pricey!

The 208 is too weak to handle all that torque, thats why they use the 203 and 205 (all gears and cast iron case) this is what Steve Watson from ORD has said

:confused: I think planetary refers to things like the TerraLo that have 4 or 5 small gears in a circular framework (like planets) - the 203 is just a regular gear box.

It would be called a reduction gear box or range reduction box but never a planetary because it does not use a planetary gear set.

The phrase "planetary" for axles comes from the meaning of the "planets" which are the smaller gears around the "sun" which is the main larger gear in the center. The "planets" spin around the "sun", therefore giving the term "planetary" gears.
