please do. drifting is a very precise competition if you're going all out.

JParuBob 01-17-2004, 10:10 AM there are a couple different types of comps also. there is either a race style, or a points style. Race is on a track, points is generally in a big flat area, possibly with cones. The idea is to get as close to the wall WITHOUT hitting it...
braxton357 01-17-2004, 10:21 AM Anyone else find it ironic that drifting is done with RWD cars? Maybe its just me because the ricers around here laughably attempt it...
MRM4418 01-17-2004, 10:38 AM FWDs do good in the smaller, more compact tracks;) . RWDs generally do better on the longer stretches.
RWD definantly has an advantage in acceleration thru courses with longer/wider turns, whereas FWD cars and AWD cars have the advantage through tighter courses.
Another thing to take into consideration is the skill of the driver. It's much harder to power a rwd car through a tight course, and fairly simple to power a fwd car through a tight course, but theoreticly it can be done faster with a rwd car instead of the fwd car. You don't see too many pro-race cars that are fwd(of course the realtime integras are fwd) but mostly, the rwd cars dominate the world of racing because of their lighter weight(than awd) and better acceleration(fwd and awd), and ability to take more aggresive lines at the tracks.
CRICKET 01-17-2004, 10:45 AM that video was a gret way to start a sat morn, ahhh refreshing
RP Films 01-17-2004, 06:14 PM Damm that shit was FUN. ThunderHill is a BAD ASS place. I got to go around the track in an M3 BMW......We will just leave it at the driver was an old Skipp Barber teacher.:flipoff2: Also got to ride when they put on a Demo with two drivers pulling figure eights!!! Alot of wipping around. There was both the track style and they had cone courses....There is another event at Sears Point in two weeks!!!!

Yup. That's more my speed. Don't get me wrong, this "drifting" thing is a cool exhibition. But, as a "competition", it's kind of a "junk sport". No offense.

I probably would have thought that If I didn't already know what drifting was.
I used to do it in my go-Kart. But only because My dad and I didn't know how to set it up. Wooo... Loosy Goosy is FUN. :D
Frankie_Bones 01-17-2004, 08:49 PM Wow, that looks like a really cool sport.
