I set up a site for 4x4 folks to post their pics. It's a FREE site that's a personal project of mine, not a commercial venture.

www.my4x4pics.com (http://www.my4x4pics.com/)

Any problems or questions, send to webmaster@my4x4pics.com.

Enjoy!

WTF, 2 of these in one week

Stop spamming this crap that will most likely be down in a week or two.

The other poster coded his own picture gallery, so HE atleast knows something about hosting, and serving pictures.. you just installed 4images probably a point-click install..

(You are a new user, and only 2 posts, and this spam one)

How can this be a personally project if you didn't do any of the coding?

/me thinks you are prowling for customers to pay you down the line.

Not from me.

I made a point of saying that it's not a commercial project and it's the only time I'm going to post about it in this forum. How can it be spam? As for it coming down "in a week or two", only time will tell, won't it? None of my other sites (around a dozen) have been taken down, so why would this one?

I host over a hundred sites on the machine in question - one I designed, built, installed & tuned the OS and compiled & configured the applications on. I'm familliar enough with PHP, perl and MySQL to have written the app myself, but why reinvent the wheel? 4images does what I need and is easy enough to customize (which I have done) if necessary. Have you been around the software development community much? Are you familliar with the term "reusable code" and know why it's important?

New to posting. I've been lurking for a while. Why does it matter?

How can this be a personally project if you didn't do any of the coding?
Money for the domain + time spent to set it up and maintain it = Personal project. The site's only been up for a couple of weeks. There are other things forthcoming (yes, some which I will even be coding all by myself). Give the infant some time to mature before you ask it to walk and solve math problems...

/me thinks you are prowling for customers to pay you down the line.
I hate to break it to you, but you're wrong.

I think someone must've tinkled in your froot loops this morning or something, cuz you sure are in a foul mood - or are you always like this?

I try to do something nice for the 4x4 community and this is what I get. Nice. I guess you just gotta love the Internet - every type of person and all of them saying the first thing that pops into their mind.

This is the only response Todd W will receive from me in this thread, so there's no need to worry about it turning into a flame war. I felt a response was in order to make sure that people understood my intentions with the site.

Everyone (including Todd W) is still welcome to use the site, and rest assured that I will never require you to pay for it.

It's ok, Todd is just sour because his wife (collection of porn pictures he stored and someones free online picture hosting site) left him when the site operator started charging money.

LOL :D

No, I just know that once he posts this on a few boards eventually he wont be able to afford to host it and then he will take it down and everyone will be screwed...

And if he does eventually have to charge for the service, that's fine in fact charging even a small amount provides a great deal of support for himself to make the projuect/product better, but doing so without a vendor star is unfare to us who DID PAY for one.

And I am very familiar with the hosting, programming, and designing industry as that's my main line of work.

I was always taught that nothing in life is free and it will eventually come with a price ;) :roxy:
