I'm almost at my wits end here...

I have a Dana 300 in my CJ that has been leaking for a long time from the front drive shaft output yoke.

I replaced the seal, this didn't fix it.

I replaced the yoke, this didn't fix it.

So last night I put a new seal in with the new yoke thinking that the seal might have been ruined by the last yoke. But i went out this morning and it still leaked.

I try to move the shaft and its really snug, so i don't think the bearing is messed up.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it if the seal and yoke are new?

Its a T-case, get used to it leaking.

thats fine, other than the puddles left everwhere. But my worry is because it is the output shaft for the front end that side of the tcase is lower than the rest...meaning the fluid all goes down there and I don't want it all to leak out. Maybe thats a dumb worry.

I totally understand your concern but sometimes its a loosing battle. Only thing I can think of is that that bearings for the front out put are loose.

I forgot to add this. I probably should have told ya, it hasn't even been driven since i put the new seals and output shaft in. Wouldn't that make it at least seal up till i drove it? Right now the Tcase is out of the jeep.

Thanks for your help.

did you seal the splines?

No i didn't seal the splines, but its not leaking from the washer and nut on the front of the yoke.

Its leaking from behind the sheet metal shield. I'll try to seal the splines though and see if that helps.

This may sound stpuid but is your vent tube clogged. If the vent is blocked the fluid will be forced out in the path of least resistance, which is usually seals.

Other than that i have no ideas, i fyou replaced the seal and the yoke, then sealed the splines, it shouldnt leak. Is the bearing race not seating fully? This would not allow the seal to seat then cause a gap between the yoke and the seal. if the bearing race is in like this "/" then the seal will be as well.
