heres the readings...........117 systolic mmHg.........58Diastolic mmHg

ok i will break it down simple:
systolic'its the presure of your blood when the heat actualy pumps. the surge forward
the diastolic is the pressure while the heart is at rest. residual pressure.
good guideby : systolic, 100 plus your age. diastolic half that. @ rest
pulse should be slow(age dictating) at rest

That pulse looks a bit on the high side.
The BP doesn't look bad.
I like knowing that thumbrule now. My doc did get a bit "concerned" when I showed up with a BP of 140/80. Didn't buy the shagging the GF thing before my appointment.

Check the American Heart Association web site.
Blood Pressure (http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=468)
Common Misconceptions about Blood Pressure (http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=3008517)
I have to watch some OTC med's... decongestents will send it through the roof!
Good news. Cutting back on fat, salt, beer, and exercising does help keep it in check. Of course, fawk that and pass me the salted fries and beer please. :D

One interesting thing I heard is that Dr's used to think salt was
this incredibily evil substance, but a study was done that proved
it wasn't so. It was found that going on a "low sodium" diet didn't
do anything to lower blood pressure in over 90% of the men in
the study.
