This may not be important to most of you,
but a key to operation on a 40 series of the OEM winch is to have the rear angle piece of the winch head correctly supported on frame (horns, above cener arm). There are upper and lower shims for this and when buying a winch make sure they are there. Most often they are not.....
Now the news. The upper shim (basically a steel wedge) is still available, but not for much longer (F part, not really stocked). pn is 38333-60010 and run about $9 list. If you don't have one , order one (or two),(the other can be fab'd to right size then). Hate to think you crack the $$$ housing/case for not having two $9 ea. shims. At the very least, fudge the shim (s) with 3/8" x 2" strap....
The bottom shim (discon) allows the bolt to snug up flat to the frame from the underside-this one is important, but not as much as the top shim.
