A fellow member of a mustang site (Corral.net) said you guys could probably help me out.

I was given some information off the door of a 1979 Ford 4wd Truck. Can you help me break some of this down?

O.k., here's the challenge. Will it have Dana 40's?? Dana 60's?? What's the gear ratio?? Any information would be great (I may need more to get all the info.)...

Here's what I've got:
1979 Ford 4WD
Axle Code: 37A
Body Code: B9m
Transmission: K
Type: GVW X361
Serial #: X36HKSA0116
Misc. Numbers: WB 155

These numbers were given to me so I really can't be much more descriptive.

Anybody know the answers? Thanks a ton in advance.

You have two 'X''s in the description you posted. I assume they are 'digit unreadable'. If thats correct then it looks like you're looking at a F-350 4x4. It will have front and rear Dana-60 axles. Stout truck.
I jsut noticed the WB. damn, looks like a crewcab 4x4.

can you look at the rig yourself?

Thanks for the quick response.

The truck is actually in another town a few miles away. A friend gave me the codes off the door. What are your thoughts on this beast?

My thoughts are........I WANT IT. Front axle is worth some bling. One of the tougest trucks ever made.

I just dug up my shop manual for 1979.

It is a F-350 4x4 supercab, not a crewcab, my bad.

351M-2V motor

the type GVW you list does not show up. but a X351 does for a pick-up. GVW of 8600#.

Trans code doen't show right. neither does the axle codes match my shop manual.
Rare and strong truck. Make damn sure the front axle is still a D-60.

Bringing this back from the dead...but wouldnt an axle code "37A" indicate its a 44 up front? Doesnt the third digit of the axle code need to read "R" for it to be a 60???
