Dose anyone know anything about the transfer case in the 1993 Ford Raider (courier) apart from what it does  Who made them, are lower low ratios avaliable?

Also what can be done to the 2.6lt 12valve for more power short of replacing it?

looks like a cast iron chain drive case, hmmmmm. interesting.
In the USA we've never seen anything like what you have down under. Maybe Ford used something from Mazda.

Not sure why the pic arn't showing. Anyhow right click on them, click on properties and you will see the URL to the pics.:p

To me the case seems alloy but is chain driven (thats about all I have found on it). It is also known as the Mazda Marvie in some parts of the world.

That is a neat looking truck. Is it the same as what is in a mazda pickup of the same vintage. Looks like one.

actually Dodge did make the Raider and the Mitsu Montero but they were both built by Mitsubishi as they were in bed with Dodge at the time hense the useless 2.6 motor

Here in Oz, the Mazda B2600 and Ford Courier/Raider are one of the same. The Raider is just the stationwagon version. Ford was the only one to sell the wargon on the Australian market. In New Zealand, Mazda was the only one to sell the wagon (Marvie Proceed). The motor in them is the Mitsui G6, the gearbox is ford but as for the rest????

From what I've heard, Aussie Ford Courier is the same vehicle that is sold as Ford Ranger and Mazda 2500 pickup in the European market. I've got the Ranger, it has Mazda WL81 engine (2.5 litre fourbanger turbodiesel) and whole driveline from Mazda. Transfercase looks much like the one nev62 has. IFS front with torsion bars and leaf spring rear.

Some time ago I asked ARB if they had lockers for this pickup but no-no... :( ...perhaps later in the future. The friction type limited slip rear is more like an open differential now. Changing diff oil (LS type oil) didn't help. I believe it has worn out. I'd like to replace the LS with a true locker but nothing seems to be available for this Mazda axle. Could some kind of axle swap be done to get something better than a LS?

I might try to take some photos from the driveline components. Can the pics be hosted here or do they have to be stored somewhere else and put a link here in the message?

Yes, welder makes lockers. We call 'em "kemppilukko" here after the Finnish Kemppi welding machine factory, "lukko"=locker. Too bad they are not street legal in Finland, so have to get something else - this is my daily driver. It's a rebadged Mazda 2500 turbodiesel pickup sold on European market as a Ford Ranger and as a Ford Courier in Australia. Don't know where else.

Yesterday evening I took some photos and found a place to host 'em. It's freezing cold (-20C) and quite deep snow here in winter, so vehicles get their share of snow and ice too. Now the whole front end was covered with ice so the front differential cannot be seen on these pics.
