: Tranny fluid question

I have a '94 YJ, six cyl engine, with a manual tranny. I am getting the tranny fluid changed thursday and I am going to provide the oil to be used. I have been told to use Redline MT-90 fluid and told that I could buy it from this website (or Pepboys): http://myoilshop.com/AutoPrds.html

If you click on manual tranny fluid link up top, there are two selections. MT-90 and MTL. Is there any difference between the two? Or is the MT-90 the best bet for an older YJ with high mileage?

Also, how many quarts do I need for the tranny and transfer case? I was told it might be two, but they weren't 100% sure.

TIA for your help.

NEWBIE TECH!!!

First of all, assuming you still have a 231 T-case, you have to use ATF in it and IIRC it uses 2-3 qts.

Second, why blow the coin on high dollar oils in a Jeep, I highly doubt you notice any performance gains...... Yer 4.0L doesn't produce enough power for this stuff to matter and the AX-15 uses more the just a 2-3 qts of gear lube.

The capacities are listed in your owners manual along with the type of fluid to use. Oh and change it yourself, or can you not unscrew 2 bolts yourself.

I would change it myself, but I do not have a garage to work in and it's too cold outside. Also I live in an apartment complex and they frown upon people working on their vehicles in the parking lot.

Next time they frown upon you, give them the middle finger and tell them to come fix your shit for you.

Meh, it doesn't phase me that are harrassing me over the internet. They talk to the talk, but they don't walk the walk.

The GM Syncromesh seems to be the best stuff. I do have the Mt-90 in mine know and it does fine too. Now take this to the Newbi forum. :flipoff2:
