: Troublesome busing removal

I am replacing all my bushing on my truck with polyurethane ones and I am having alot of trouble getting the lower control arm bushings out. I have tried almost everything got one out in about an hour! I don't have a hydraulic press and I don't want to remove the control arm. Do they make a special tool for this? I have been using a c-clamp to act like a press but its a pain. Will the upper control arm bushings, rear leaf spring and shackle bushings be just as hard to remove?

Most likely they will be just as difficult. I have found that putting heat to them works very well. To the point that they are on fire. Just make sure that you don't burn up anything of importance.

That won't weaken the metal around the bushing will it? How does it smell? :barf:

try taking a drill and drilling a hole in the old rubber bushing. Then use some dish soap and a hammer and beat it out. I've used this method on getting old leaf spring bushing out and it works pretty good :D

I've had good luck drilling a holes in the bushings too, just drill lots of them till it comes out easy.

I will try drilling around them again. Should I try torching them out or not?

Doesn't seem to weaken the metal. Really doesn't get that hot.
SMELLS LIKE SHIT!!!!
