Fixin some stuff on my dad's TJ and was wondering about common leaks on Rancho 9s.

He's got the in-cab dual-remote kind and only the rear leak. They leak REALLY slowly until the car gets warmed all the way up (about 15-20 min.) and then they hold pressure. Apparently whatever is leaking (fitting, pinhole, o-ring) expands and seals up.

I did the soupy spray bottle check on all of the air fittings for anything related to the rear lines and get no results.

Again, the leak is really slow (it takes about 10 minutes to go from a little over "3" to "0")

Is there anything common to look for? Is this just something that you have to live with?

Lessee here..

10 minutes from '3' to '0'
20 minutes for the leak to go away.

Start on 3.
After 5 minutes, put it on 4
Five minutes later put it on 5.
Ten minutes later, move it back to 3.

Good to go.

What I found on mine was put a little vasoline on the o-ring. I could air them up to 5 and it would hold for a week or more..

the leak is common by the way..

use the vasoline on the o-rings.. dont over tighten the valve either.

I have been running the in cab set ups for 4 years now on my Ford and the Jeep. I have tried a few things, that work well. A dab of clean axle grease, on the O rings works good. But the thing that works the best by far, is blue RTV. Slide the cap into place and then the O ring onto the tubing, before you apply the RTV, so that you dont get any in the end of the tube when sliding the O ring. Position the O ring close to where it will rest when tightened, then run a small amount of RTV around it. Slide the air line carefully into the end of the fitting and tighten the cap firmly(finger tight). mine dont leak down for weaks from a number 3 position. If you need to take them apart later, everything just unscrews as normal, and the RTV can be peeled of easily with your fingers(thats why I use blue, so I can see it).
