I got the pump and brackets from a 78 Lincoln and it was an easy swap.
But in order to get it to fit I had to remove the A/C compressor(York) and brackets. This isn't too much of a problem since the A/C doesn't work well but I want to convert to OBA.

So I'm looking for anyone who has done the Saginaw swap and kept the compressor. Maybe I'm stoopid but I can't see how to make it work.

Eric go over to projectbronco if you cannot find anything here on it. James Oxley has been trying the same thing. I am going to a sag pump here this weekend. if I have to I will make my own bracket to fit.

Thanks Don

I've done lots of searching over there on this topic too but I'll see if I can hook up with James to see where he's at on this.
I'm working on a custom bracket too but what a PITA!

I did this on my 78 bronco.. I used the stock PS bracket, and a stock Sag pump bracket,, grafted the two togeather,, and in just an hour of cutting and welding the two togeather mounted up a perferctly aligned, spaced sag pump where there was a screaming leaking round canOjunk. It's now been on there for three years with no issues at all. I had pics on the SF site, till the pic data base crashed,, Let me see if I still have um around to load up.

Why not get the brackets from an E-Series van? They came with the Siagnaw and York together. Never seen one with a M or 400 tho...

This is one of those, my brothers, fathers, uncle, had a friend that had a van,, and I think it was a ford, and pretty sure it had a 400M with a Sag powersteering pump..

Yes that model had the 351M in it,, but did it have the Sag pump? Maybe,, but I've never seen one, nor met anyone I knew that had.. Have you?

Every E-Series I've ever looked(late 70's/early 80's) at has had a Siagnaw pump, just haven't seen one with a M or 400

Yes they do exist!!! I have seen a few vans with the 5.8/6.6 M blocks! These were late 70's model, early 80's vans. They had the AC compressor mounted on the same bracket the sag pump used. I can get my hands on some, PM me if you're interested.

edit: Are Chevy sag pumps the same as Ford pumps- in terms of mounting holes on the pumps themselves? What about shaft size?

Yes, they do exist.....so I'm told. I got a line on a set of brackets from a van with Sag pump, and the York off a 400. I'll post up some pics when I get them.

Thanks for the offer J-Roc. I'll be calling if this deal falls through.
