: Big tintop Samurai in California

I needed a bigger, less serious trail rig to double as my daily driver, so I bought an 85 4Runner and am selling my beloved Samurai.

It was an official Off-Road.com Project Truck, the result of 10 years of fine-tuning. Once I totalled it up, I couldn't believe that it has over $12,000 in aftermarket parts alone! Here's a run-down of what it's got:

Suzuki Swift GTi Engine: Ultra-strong GTi crank, rods, and pistons, high compression, larger valves, custom exhaust with a Thorley header, Weber carburetor, torque cam, 50% more horsepower than stock, turns 9,000rpm without breaking a sweat. 30,000 miles since complete rebuild, current smog certificate.

6.1:1 Transfer Case: Ultra-low gears provide a 103:1 crawl ratio for torque and control while on the trail. Idles at ¾ of a mile per hour. 2-low shifter modification. Upgraded mounting arms and bushings. Long-travel driveshafts with 1/2-ton U-joints.

Axles: 4.57:1 Yukon Gears, Lock-Right Lockers, custom trussing/skidplating, rear disc brake conversion (with in-cab electric line-locks), crossover steering.

Suspension: Spring-Over-Axle conversion, YJ springs with front shackle reversal and rear Missing Link shackles, Rancho RS9000 shocks with in-cab remote controls to adjust suspension stiffness. 1400RTI score, 40+ inches of articulation.

Wheels & Tires: Super Swamper SSR 33x14.50 (80% tread remaining) on 15x10 Rockcrawler wheels with 2.0-inch backspacing. Bushwacker fender flares.

Armor: Wheeler's front bumper, Rocky Road rear bumper & tire carrier with full-size weight-saving pizza-cutter BFG spare, Hi-Lift jack, and gas can. Belly pan skidplate and side-mounted rock sliders (included, but not currently mounted). Con-Ferr roof rack.

Interior: Suzuki Esteem front seats, extremely rare split/folding rear seats, in-dash MP3 CD player with truck speaker box mounted to rear door, Tuffy locking center console, CB radio, scanner.

This is an exceptionally reliable vehicle, with all the "bugs" worked out. I'll post pictures as soon as my server is back up. In the meantime, you can check out my ad on AutoTrader (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=144374054) for photos.

Notice that for typical wanna-be wheeler on AutoTrader, I'm asking $8500. But for someone from the Pirate board, I'd reluctantly accept $7500. I'm also willing to entertain any interesting trade proposals, keeping in mind that I'm building an 85 4Runner and am looking for things like dual t-cases or even a trade for assistance working on my Yota. Don't be afraid to make me an offer!

The best way to reach me is by email: rubicon4wheeler@hotmail.com

The Samurai is located in Northern California's Bay Area, in the town of Orinda to be specific.

Ive seen this thing in person. Well built and VERY trail worthy.

G you should keep it and leave the Yota as a daily driver.

Thanks for the kind words, CT. And thanks for posting the pic, SeaBass. Believe me, I want to keep the Samurai, but I have too many vehicles and am looking to pay off some debts. If worse comes to worst, I'll just hang onto the Samurai because NOBODY wants me to sell it. But if someone out there is interested enough in it, I figure we'll both come out ahead so it's worth a shot at selling it.

I e-mailed ya. Sweet rig. :emb:

You can reply to zgwninja@yahoo.com and I'll get the response sooner than if you reply to the address I sent from. The address I sent from is my work e-mail, so I wouldn't be able to check it over the weekend. Either way is cool.

Thanks,
Zoen

I reply to every email I get. I'll be posting some more pictures for you guys ASAP. I've been away from my computer at home for a couple of days, which is why there's the delay. Hang tight, I'll get you a link shortly. :flipoff2:

I got your email and I wrote you back! You didn't get that email?

Anyways, I'm sorry I haven't posted any additional photos yet. I've been working at the Sportsmen's Expo in San Mateo and have just been getting home in time to check my email and then go to sleep. Please bear with me, I will be posting some photos at my earliest opportunity.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, email me (rubicon4wheeler@hotmail.com) and I WILL reply. Thanks!

I'm sorry about the delay in getting you some updated pics of my Sami. Since I haven't had time to dig through my backup discs for the images, here are a couple links to some product review articles I wrote a while back. These pics are prior to the fender flares and some other of the most recent mods, but you'll get an idea of what the rig looks like and how well it performs:

Tires article (http://www.off-road.com/suzuki/reviews/interco.htm)

Suspension review (http://www.off-road.com/suzuki/reviews/cssuspension.htm)

Don't hesitate to ask me any questions!

I've had a lot of people interested in it, but every one has flaked on me. Makes me want to just hang onto it, but I need the $$$ and I'd like to see it go to someone from the Pirate board who's a genuine 4x4 enthusiast and who'll appreciate it for what it can do.

A PBB member came and checked it out, but decided it's not quite up to his daily driver needs, which I totally understand. It's been my DD for the last decade, but now that I'm driving my 4Runner, going back to the Sami does reveal that it's better for occational use on the street and is more at home as a trail rig.

So it's still for sale, if any of you are interested. I'd much rather see it go to a true enthusiast off the Pirate board than just some Joe Schmoe wanna-be 'wheeler. If you're at all interested, make me some kind of offer!

Hi everyone,

As mentioned in the post above, I went and checked this Sami out. It's bad! It starts right up, is a solid runner, and is clearly a very, very capable wheeler. It will definitely take you everywhere you want to go.

If I had the money to buy something just as a trail rig, this Sami would be mine. It really does have all the bugs worked out. You'd get on the trail, mob when and where you want to go, and not spend any time underneath it.

If you ask me, it's worth every dollar he's asking.

Good luck, and good wheeling to whoever can snatch this thing up.
