Uhh....Grap it and pull. What's the problem? They just pop right out. If it gives you any sh!t, put a box end wrench on one of the ring gear bolts and then give the pinion a few spins. The wrench will contact the housing and the carrier will be forced outward. Works every time :flipoff2:

Remove bearing caps. chuck rag in there. Turn pinion yoke until rag binds between pinion and ring gear teeth, forcing carrier out.

If you remove the caps you should be able to pry it out. Not a big deal. Are you setting up a new ring and pinion? Installing a locker? What?

Yeah, why are you taking it out?

1. Remove the diff cover
2. Remove the bearing caps
3. Start the JEEP
4. Put it into 3rd gear
5. Dump the cutch
6. Watch it fly

This is why I asked, look at all the different "approaches" people use. I was gonna weld the piece of crap up. Didn't everyone leave out pull axle shafts.:rasta: Now what technique should I use, weld the gears together or fill in the spaces between the teeth to make a "loose lincoln locker"? This Jeep will see mud 98% of it's life.

When I welded my M20, I originally just welded the side gears to the carrier, and then had an entertaining, crunchy drive home when a weld let loose. New(used) carrier and spiders next time, I welded side gears to the carrier, and then welded the spider gears to the side gears, and let the weld flow. No problems since, and it's been 3 years. Now there's rumor about Randy's R&P having a spool in may or so, will switch to that then, because I still dont trust my own welds:D
