: BEADLOCKS - Are TR's the only way to go?

Without switching to an 8 lug pattern and running hummer wheels - are Trail ready beadlocks the best option out there these days?

Ideas - opinions - experiences?

Thanks

StreetLocks are where it's at.

All I run, never had a bead problem, even when aired down to 20psi...

What kind off air do you run?

Interco air is the best below 15 PSI.

15-30 PSI I find BFG Desert Racing Air to be the best.

DEFINATELY!.. why do you think so many competitors fill their tires with water????

so they can put em in the freezer when they get done for the day.

According to the weatherman, I'm running 3-below air right now...I know, it's a risk, but I tend to gamble on these things.....

<-- rebel, no cause...

do you run different air summer and winter? I've found Canadian air to be the best, and since the border is only 3-4 hours away, quite affordable. It is a bitch airing up after a trail ride tho...

I hooked up an intercooler to mine... My intercooler keeps the tires air pretty cold and doesnt let it worm up too much on the way to the mall, oops I mean trails.

Just fill em up with argon so you don't have to carry a bottle for the onboard TIG. :flipoff2:

I can't believe you guys air down. Don't you remember watching on the news all of the explorers rolling over because they had low tire pressure? After that, I stopped doing it. Nothing is worth that kind of risk.

Argon????
No way - they're right, cold is the key.
CO2 is the only way to go.
I might have to try that intercooler trick though - that sounds sweet.

Please tell me that you guys are rotating the air in your tires at every oil change?....I hope you are, makes your tires last a lot longer...

I've actually got a modified CTIS from a H1 hooked up to a air filter that constantly pumps fresh air through them.
No more of that stale tire air when airing down at the trail head.:D

Took my jeep to the dealer today and they told me my tires wer on wrong. Some how I had the fronts on the rear and the rears on the front. He said it was $25 a tire to fix the problem. Glad he caught that for me I would hate it to be the wrong way.
Kory:flipoff2:
P.S. I also had the halagon fluid changed at the same time. Can't wait to see how much briter my headlights are tonight.:flipoff2:

I use the spendy Strip Club Dressing Room, bottled air. Smells like I got a lap dance after I air down, but less risk of getting pink eye, then a real dance.

I don't rotate anymore. I find changing it every 100 miles works better.

all ball busting aside - back to the original thread...
The trail ready's are pretty sweet looking - anybody have any negatives?
I've busted a couple hubs sliding into rocks, looks like the TR's will give you a good bit of protection.

I run TR's on the trail on my TJ. Love em! I used to dent lugnuts with my black steel rims (like that matters) and pop beads at twelve. The TR's protect the lugs and I have run down to 6 in Glamis. No slip, or bead problems at all.

Dent lugnuts? What kind of cheap plastic shit are you running?

Steel, Chrome, OE and aftermarket. If you can't do it, maybe you need to wheel harder...or wheel somewhere other than the mall parking lot.

Oh yeah, I can't run center caps for more than 5 minutes on the trail.

Yeah you with your d30 so fully get it.. I suppose that the speedbumps at my mall just arent tall enough to dent my lugz .... dipshit

Well with all the air talk going on I figured I woudl chime in for everyones safety. I hope that now that the cold air is here everyone has swaped out their summer air with the winter air. If u havent done this do so imediatly, and what ever u do dont swap out the summer air in only 2 tires, THEY CAN'T BE COMBINED! I am just trying to keep everyone safe.

I can't afford beadlocks. I use oxy-acetylene instead of air. You don't have to worry about the temp or periodic changing or tire rotation. It automatically stays mixed and if you pop a bead give it a light, it seats and you're on you're way!

How about "Metric Air"? Do we have to go to Canada for that?? - good thing Windsor is right across the bridge :D

..Well..When I changed over to Winter air this season...I debated this whole "airing down" thing..I dont want to have any problems when its cold outside...Maybe I'll run less air when I go back to Summer air...Fawk beadlocks..Super Glue is the only way to go!
