My dad saw a deal at home depo for a huge sheet of dry erase board, so we cut it up and put them on the cabinates in the garage and I got one at the shop and so when I'm in the middle of something or doing calculations I do it on there (it's great cause grease/dirt wipes off, unlike paper). Then I transfer it to engineering paper (when I'm done and hands are clean) for a more perminant record. It's National Brand, and I like it cause it has the graph marks on the back so it shows through well enough to see but not too overpowering to write on. (it's piss yellow with green lines)

I drew my house plans with an Excel spreadsheet. Just modified the font & column widths to make perfect squares :)

National brand Engineering paper is the only way to go!! I've been using the stuff for years. It also comes in green if you can't stand that piss yellow color. Grab a couple of triangles, a good sharp pencil and you're off to the races.

Wow, that all sounds better than the bar napkins I usually use, but that is where I have my best ideas. Now, if I could just figure the drawings out the next day.....
