No that won't work. YOu should be able to sell that arm though.

BTW, I have an almost new All Pro High steer system for sale, email me off line.

Actually....I hate to disagree, but you can get a set of '76-'78 knuckles and still use the mini truck disc parts in the swap. I did this with my '74 FJ40 that I SOA'd before I added front discs. I just used a set of '77 knuckles (per Danny Warden) and disc parts from a '85 FJ60.

Call Danny just to make sure if ya want - but I know it waorks, cause I didn't get a new 2x steering arm and I'm 4x discs now :smokin: :D

This is very true! I was just saying that his pre-79 arm will not fit in a post-79 knuckle.

That was the question, however, for the trouble you are suggesting wouldn't it be easier just to get another double arm and sell the old one?

I would user the LC disk, calaper and Knuckle the mini spindle assembly and birf. then you get the bigger birf and the bigger breaks with vented roters.

Nolen -

While you're probably correct about the hassle of tracking down a '76-'78 knuckle, I chose that path because I was trying to save a few $$ when I did the disc brake swap. It was not planned for (2 of my front wheel cyl's died) and the Cruiser budget was DEEP in the red due to the SOA/SM420/PS work done a few months prior. My concern was to get the swap done as cheap as possible, and keeping the almost new 2x steering arm was a priority (especially with my CFO, err...wife, watching the costs as close as she did).

If I were to do it again today - I would not hesitate to get a newer arm or go hi-steer.

I've got one running 40 and 2 projects.
The 75 that runs got 76-78 Cruiser discs cause I got a bunch of front ends cheap way back when.
I have broken the arm off the knuckle 3 times and each time fubared the knuckle. The last time it actually broke the top off the knuckle.
Those 76-78 r/s knuckles are getting plenty hard to find and now I have my two projects (74 and 78 40's) with bad r/s knuckles.
So I have started collecting mini knuckles and arms to switch them all over.
My 75 is getting a d60 front when ever I get around to building it, but until then it has mini knuckles and a home made double arm.
Would have been much cheaper in the long run for me to have used mini knuckles and arms.
Haven't broken one off of it yet.
And mini parts are much easier to find and are much cheaper.
