: rock Krawler xj 8" long arm kit
rockfead2 12-28-2001, 07:15 AM Is anyone running this set up on your xj? Yes I did the search but I didn't find anything. How do you like it have you had any problems with this set up? Do you think this is a good product or should I spend the extra $$ and get the Skyjacker 8" set up?
thanks in advance
WyoJeeper 12-28-2001, 10:18 AM I have a good friend with the RockKrawler 5.5" Extreme kit for his TJ and it isnt worth the money. The company in my opinion has shit quality components. If you want to change heims every trip out go with that kit. If you want quality all the way around go with the SkyJacker 8" lift.

rockfead2 12-28-2001, 10:32 AM thanks Rick thats what I wanted to hear:beer:
whatdaphuk 12-28-2001, 12:33 PM Knew a guy who HAD one on his XJ, until the heim broke and almost killed him when he flipped.:nuke: Skyjacker kits are good, personally i like RE and Rusty. Are you planning on running 38s or 37s, cause you can get 35s or 36s on 6" if you are not afraid of cutting

RockReadyXJ 12-28-2001, 01:46 PM the skycrapper lifts are ok but its not worth the 2 grand they want for it. I have the 6 inch RR kit on my XJ and got it befor i knew ANYTHING about jeeps. You would be better off getting RE stuff. It performs just as well and rides better and is ALOT cheaper. there are so much vibrations it feels like my axles are welded to the uniframe from haveing hiems at both ends of all of the control arms.
P&T Jeeps 12-28-2001, 02:20 PM All you guys bashing RockKrawler, get ready, they will hunt you down...
But amen someone else on this BB has said it too!
whatdaphuk 12-29-2001, 08:31 PM The guy that owns Carolinarockshop.com had one too, you could try to contact him and he can answer any of your questions about it. But, i have Rustys 6" coils and RE's drop brackets and they flex better than my friend's skyjacker 8" kit. Any yes, with the help of new axles and a cutter, i am getting 36s on 6"
MKBruin 12-29-2001, 10:54 PM check Tomkin Machine's new 8 inch longarm kit....I am not too big a afn of the Krawler kit or the skyjacker......why drop that much $ for the jacker when they use drop down brackets? makes no sense to me.
I have been impressed with Tomkin machine and Rubicon express from personal experience.
reemmber...no one company make THE perfect kit. to get teh best results you should mix and match the best parts from different kits.
OR.....you could just weld L channel to the frame channels to reinforce and provide a source for your own custom kit. you can pick up some nice John Deer arms for dirt cheap that will work...especially if you are going with a custom front axle.
ScottZJ 12-30-2001, 03:58 PM Yes, and Tomken makes some really stout stuff. I havent seen the kit on an XJ just yet but it sounds very nice...........peace
rockfead2 12-31-2001, 07:05 AM Thanks Guys for all the imput. I allready have a Tomken 6" kit and Ya its a fairly stout kit and it flexs ok. But it's been in the jeep for 3 years and has saged a least 1" to 1 1/2". There is bearly enough room for the 33's now and thats with some healthy triming. I want to run 35's but I need more clearance so I think I will go with either the re or thr rr. thanks again:D
whatdaphuk 12-31-2001, 10:29 AM bigoffroad.com sells 6" and 8" springs if ya want to go REALLY big.

first off, when did they get isp in brigham city, let alone phone survice there :flipoff2:
second, keep your lift you have and break out the sawzall, if you like the look of tj flares, put them on the rear, and cut out everything that hangs below them, this will give you enough room, or you can go a step further, this wheel well has a radius off the axle of 27" in my book thats big enough for a 42 :D
