what's a late 70's ford 9" and a 5 lug hp 44 in rust-yard condition worth?

I also found a few ford dana 44 front axles with welded on radius arm mounts and drum brakes I am assuming these are bronco axles.

The yard owner has been avoiding my questions about what he wants for these axles but until now I've been letting him get away with it as long as he sells me all the 78-79 60's he has.

thanks

Now that I think of it, these are likely just 1/2 ton axles. the problem is that I can measure the width becasue they are all in a tangled pile.

In MN $50-$150 a piece, but this is the rust belt. Truck axles are cheap.

Well, just a little farther south in Iowa, they generally run $200 - $300 depending on the junkyard. It also seems like none of the junkyards around here have any parts for anything other than the 1/2 ton trucks either so when I got axles for my truck I was stuck with the 1/2 ton 9" and dana 44.

I'm starting to think about loading up a trailer full of these $75 D60 rears and heading south for the winter to live like a king ;)

Go shop at the scrap yards,,,, NOT THE F***ING junk yards

the last HP44 I got for a case of beer,,, there is the scrap business to them the stuff is $40 a ton, And they cut axles and gear boxes out and save them for me. I just give them a gasket for the dana 44`s and 60`s and when they get some axles in that the gasket looks right on the cut them out of the rig and throw them to the side,,, If there real good to me I get them a carten of smokes and some beer....

The yards around here (Boise, ID), for the most part, are a joke. They want around $400 for a complete rear with 3.00s or higher. If you want 3.50s tack on $100. 4.10s? Forget it. The drag racers and oval racers around here have driven prices ridiculously high on 9" stuff.

Most "other" diffs get sold for $150 for a front, $100 for a rear.

A HP44 f / 9" rear with 4:11s in the yards around here go for around $450 (for both). I have gotten them as cheap as $50 a piece. Depends on the local demand i guess.

tell me about it, around here (twin falls, id) they want like $500 for a 10 bolt, $80 for a leaf spring. there are a couple small yards that are good with prices, but they don't have the same kind of selection

Dont come to texas for axles. They think thier made of gold. Unless you find a truck in a field or behind a barn. A hp 44 at a yard in houston goes for like $500+ and 9's are cheap like $75 to $150 each. Dont even look for a 60. And rockwell are every were. The funny thing is the axle are every were. But peaple how own the yards know what they got.:D
