: SF 30 Spline Dana60 to FF 35 spline conversion

I have an International Travellall Dana60 that I'm looking to convert from a semi-floating 30 spline setup to a full floating 35 spline setup. Is it possible to mate up Dana70 spindles to the semi-floating ends that are currently on them, get some 35 spline shafts, 35 spline side gears (or 35 spline locker or spool) and assemble it all? Am I missing anything?

Is there an easier way to accomplish this? Would it be cheaper to just try to sell the 30 spline Dana60 and look for a 35 spline FF Dana60?

I would agree with high5. The 60-2 you have has .250 wall 2.75" tubes so they arn't the 60 to have. Get a FF60 and then you can do the 70 ends.

heck if you are just gonna do that then just run the 70.

I would run the 60 for the extra clearence and more locker choices.

Does anyone know the answer to the original question? Can I get Dana70 spindles and attatch them to the semi-floater ends to convert it to a full floater? I think I've already figured out that it will end up being cheaper and easier to sell the SF 60 and buy a FF60, but I have a problem saving large sums of money. I have an easier time saving $100 ten times than I do saving $500 once.

Get the idea?

You will never find a full floating 35 spline 60. There all 30 spline. There may be one exception though. But its a 1 in a million to find it.

true on the clearance but a grinder to the bottom of the housing will help some. as for the lockers i'll never buy one for the rear again. i have seen too many welded diffs perform to ever waste my $$$ on a locker again....at least in the rear any way. :D

The answer is no. The 70 will be 3.5" or more tube dia. and the 60-2 is 2.75. If you have a SF60 from say a 80 Ford F250 that is a c-clip 35 spline 60 the anwaer is yes you can cut off the SF ends and weld on the FF ends and then get rid of the c-clip.

OK... thanks... that's what I wanted to know. Looks like I'll be cutting the ends off and doing the big bearing Ford 9" ends after all....
