well i was thinking i have gotten 9 Fix it tickets in my jeep over the course of 3 months now so i thought maybe i should invest in making some nice mud flaps. I was just wondering if anyone knows of anywhere in sac where you can big diseal mudflaps, like the ones on semias(sp?) kinda want to get the ones with the ladies on them. Cops are starting to get smarter with what ticket they write me up with, like to high, need fenders not just mudflaps.....it goes on.So ant info i where i can get these would be great. I have little ones on thier now, but want to put huge ones on to make a point.I did kinda search but really found nothing just more on things how people made them, some pics would be nice if anyone has them on their yj, or anything close.
thx chris

Go down to Capitol Rubber in Sacramento. (look up the address. I can't remember it) Ask for 'Remnants' and tell em you're gonna make some mud flaps. They have all kinds of leftovers in the back. Just about any width and length you could need. Then all you need to do is bolt them to some kind of quick release mechanism (you'll probably have to make one) and you're done... :D:D The good thing about that is, you can make em whatever width and length you want and some of their stuff comes in colors... I got a 14" wide length of old conveyer belt and it worked great for flaps... The fella that bought my Jeep is still running them... :D:D The conveyer belt stuff is some kinda tuff...

I bought some from my local Napa. The cheap ones were $8.95 each and the heavy duty/thick ones were $12.95 each!

I bought one of the cheapies and just cut it in half ;)

Hit up a truck stop. All kinds of cool lights, mudflaps, CB stuff, and things to give you ideas. Can get some fancy "decorative chrome sitting ladies" to keep those new mud flaps from flapping in the breeze.

90Wrangler- Are you getting all these tickets from syphillus heights PD or Highway Patrol? That's going to suck if it's Heights PD...I'll be signing up for fix-it tickets left and right.

I guess I've just been lucky, cuz I'm runnin' full width under my XJ with no flares or mudflaps in CH with no trouble.

I have been getting them from a variety of police, rosevile, folsom, Citrus heights, Sherrif, not highway patrol yet though.

and as far as beening lucky it's only a matter of time, plus my wheels stick completly out, and my jeep clears the tires, so it looks like my jeep is floating. I can remember the first night i had my jeep done i when out on sunrise, and i didn't even go maybe more than 3 miles bam pulled over, but i tired of paying the fines si i'm going to put the stupid looking flaps on.

carry a copy of CVC27600 (http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc27600.htm) with you, you shouldn't need flares, just big mudflaps

you only have to "effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle"
you can accomplish this with (note the "or"s) "fenders, covers, or devices, including flaps or splash aprons, or unless the body of the vehicle or attachments thereto"
and those things must be "at least as wide as the tire tread"

It depends, there are some heavy duty rubber fawkers that weigh a ton, and there are some flexy plastic ones that don't weigh much.

If you're interested, go to a truck stop and get a truck mag. In the back, there is usually an ad for someone who'll put your name and logo on a set of flaps.

Do you have a receiver hitch make something to fit in it while you are on the road. Then just pull the pin to hit the trail.

make some brackets and pin these on/bolt them to your knuckle so they turn with your front wheels like the prowler

YEah! oh! and then, bash up next to a rock so that the metal fender bends in and slices your tire! that would be really cool! :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

it would be pretty slick if you made them quick disconnect though, and you could mount some lights on them while you're at it, so they point where you turn :p

Chris- I made some nice mud flaps for my daughter's Toy that are welded to the frame and are pinned in place. Very easy to remove for the trail. I've got some pics at home that I could send you if you thought they might help ;)
