Unfortuantely, my first post is to report the theft of my truck from in front of my house here in San Pablo (just north of Berkeley) on Wednesday evening January 21st.
It is/was a stock '85 tan regular cab with nearly new Bridgestone Revos, flat black SR5 wheels, bed liner, and a matching Vista camper shell with Thule load racks and kayak cradles. I would like to believe that someone stole it for the stereo and a ride, but it's been a week now and I suspect it's been stripped of the tires and the front axle. My tools, camp gear and floor jack were in the back under a plywood deck as well.
I now know that the door latches are easily popped and the ignition key is a joke. I will install a hidden ingnition kill the next go around!!!
CA license plate "6T12502", and it has a 2" receiver hitch w/o a rear bumper.
I had planned to pull off some Sierra routes this summer, so I'm now in the market for a another a truck if it doesn't show up soon. This was my first 4X4 and I spent some grime time replacing the cylinder head, brakes and front seals.
Keep an eye out and/or let me know if there are any straight '85 4Runners or trucks for sale, running or not.
