Allright, I need to get a little lift on my piggie, and don't really want to drop much $$$ on it now because a SOA will be coming eventually. So my plan currently is to get some lift shackles, slap em on, see how it looks and then maybe get the springs re-arched. My question to you all is what will be a good shackle length to get an inch or two lift on a pig with almost flat springs. I've found someone selling some shackles that are 5 1/4" eye to eye, is that gonna be too long? I've seen a thread where Nolen (wngrog) was bitching about the ride with some 3" lift shackles, any idea how long those were Nolen?

Or, should I abandon the shackle idea and save my money to get the springs re arched or an add a leaf or something else? Please tell me what y'all would do to lift a pig a inch or two. Thanks, Andrew.

I ran +2" springs and +2" shackles SUA for a year, and those freaking shackles hit every rock. I don't know what the wheeling is like where you are, but it was a major pain in the ass for me.

Longer shackles will also mess up your caster.

General folklore is for every inch of shackle over stock you get 1/2" of lift... So, for a 1" lift you'd need 2" over stock and for 2" you'd need 4 more inches which = long-ass shackles, poor ride, and "rock catchers" they will literally bump into everything...

So it can help but not much. I have several pairs of long ass shackles lying around that I'd sell cheap like $20-30, I would also recommend investing in at least 4 degree shims... I used shackles to quickly and easily get my rig up to fit 33's and it actually worked OK but I got some vibration no matter how much shimming I did...

You can see what I mean by "rock catchers"
