Which truck do you think would make a better daily driver. A ZR2 S10 or a TRD Tamcoma. I am looking for something that will last and be reliable.

thanks

The Toyota would be the best DD.

Don't even think of an S10 for a DD unless you want problems.

Oh you could guess I think the taco is the best mini truck, and ford superduty diesel with a 125 hp chip is the total answer to all your problems, just plan on about 1000 to do the clutch at 100,000 miles.

edit- I have had good luck with the 7.3 i take no responsability for the 6.0

The transmissions are fine. AT's need to be beefed up when you boost the HP or torque. But I'd rather just get the 6 speed manual......Oh wait, I DID!:flipoff2:

But between the s-10 and Taco, lemme see, uh, hmm. Tough one. I give the s-10 60k miles before you put more $$ in repairs than the initail cost:D Go Toyota!

Wow, I didn't know that a Dodge 2500 CTD 4x4 could go for 1,250,000 miles without major repairs  :flipoff2:

There have been many documented cases on Cummins motors going over 1,000,000 miles without an engine rebuild or teardown. Check out the TDR www.turbodieselregister.com

Toyota makes great trucks. I wouldn't even consider the s10.

I talked to a guy at Cummins about that. Claims Cummins designed the motor to run over a million miles before the bottom end need to be checked/rebuilt. From what he said, the cylinders can be resleaved(sp) 4 times before the block is junk. Cummins recommends a resleave at every 400,000 miles. Well that would put you at well over a million miles.

As far as the auto trannys, they work good and yes the torque is hard on them. I've talked with at least 10 places that specialize in big truck repair. I always got the same basic answer. Most auto trannys that go that are behind the Cummins is because the owner leaves them in overdrive while towing. Mine does have the auto tranny and I'm fairly happy with it but I wouldn't mind swaping to a manual someday.
