: Difference Between the TSL and the SX

The recent swamper strings have got me wondering again what the differences between the TSL and the SX are. From the pictures they look to have a very similar/identical tread pattern, and the are both Bias tires…

So what’s the difference. Most people seem to like the SX’s over the TSL’s… why??

Is the TSL radial even worth looking at?? Is it a better on-road tire than the bias units yet still as capable off-road.

I have 33” MT/R’s right now and love them, looking at 35’s real soon, but wondering about swampers for the future…..

Mostly trail driving (PNW, rocks, slimy/root trails..) but still like to drive it around periodically as well as to the trail head…..

Thanks

the SX is "bias belted"

that means that it has steel belts under the tread (like a radial) but also has 4 ply bias sidewalls. that makes it a little more stable on the road - the tread stays flat instead of rolling into a cylinder like a typical bias does.

i've heard that the SX is better for crawling because of the sidewall lugs (less likely to tear and you get a wee bit extra traction). down here tho, the TSL still rules. the sidewall lugs are just extra weight as far as trail running and mudbogging is concerned.

There's getting to be too many damn options.

I prefer the radial swampers. On my 2nd set, and planning on a 3rd. They perform great for an all around wheelin tire. Exactly what the PNW will throw at you, everything.

The radials are not as aggressive as they bias ply's.
