actually, not that good of a deal...figure for a restoration, most of the parts are no longer available and for a crawler, you'd have to replace the entire power/drivetrain...two grand for a tub isn't that good of a deal.

Ok how bout this.
I have a 1960 fj25 that has a good tub and frame but has a 3sp drive train swapped in and the front sheet metal has been changed, it would make a cool project rig but I just dont have time for it and besides my next cruiser will be all tube:D :D
first $750 take it away.

Sorry about posting this here I just thought I would add to the thread

Ige-

not for a resto, but for a clean FJ25 it looks like a good deal.

rarest things for a 25:
hood emblem (it has it)
steering wheel
front seats
gas tank
soft doors (in this case)
soft top frame (in this case).

No post 1958 FJ25 (except to the Toyota company) is worth bringing back stock, so issues like any driveline, hydraulic parts should be a non issue. Like all 1967 and earlier trucks, the running gear is not worth a dime.

...but if there were a 1976 40 series donor, you could make a cool Sunday driver out of a 25. This truck also has a good donor engine w/ deal.

...Paul Decker's El Salvadoran 1957 (was cruisermans) is worth a frame off to a few as 1)it was pre all US LC's, 2) there are maybe a dozen 1957's still on the planet.

the $750 one would be worth it, but i wouldn't pay $2000 then have to buy a donor 40 too. i haven't looked, so it may be in great shape, but i know for a fact just what a pain it is just to replace weatherstripping...still can't find a left bugcatcher w/s...so i wouldn't take anything less than great condition.

"Price: $2000.00

Description: 1962 FJ-25. I got it off a guy who blew the engine. I have run out of time to work on it. Right now it sits with a good '75 FJ-40 engine/tranny/tc which was taken from a running 40 for a V-8 conversion. Engine in excellent condition. (i.e. compression very good). Send me an e-mail w/ questions, to get pics, or to make me an offer. There's still work to be done here, but it's a good deal. New paint and nice body"

Here is the add. being a soft top and missing the doors and soft top frame there is only the windshield glass for weatherstrip!

Axles, big deal! Any donor set.....and away you go.

and it looks like OBO....

so i've e-mailed the owner jason a couple of times now and i'm hoping we can work out a deal.
like rick d says (and once again i'm gonna have to agree with you rick) it'll make for a fun cruise around town rig. i've wanted one for a while and if the body is in good shape it'e worth it to me. take a look at the pics and i think you'll agree, just don't get attached and try to outbid me, unless you're a sancho!

Not to bust everyone's bubble, but if the FJ25 in question is a green one with a funky rollbar that's for sale in Colorado, this truck surfaced for sale about 1-1.5 years ago and a good friend of mine went to see it. It's got SERIOUS bondo on the rear corners of the tub.

FJ25's have VERY limited markets; if you want to restore one, you have to get a very complete example because there are a lot of parts made of "unobtanium", including key restoration components like emblems and FJ25-specific parts. If you want to wheel one, you really have to think about a drivetrain swap, they have a lot of oddball parts and obsolete components. Same goes for a daily driver, they're V*very* primitive. Basically, the best possible use for an FJ25 is as an occasional "Sunday driver" and possibly preserving it as a historical Land Cruiser, although the latter is still uncommon, even among dedicated Cruiserheads.

From personal experience and observations of the Cruiser market, I don't think *ANY* unrestored FJ25 is worth more than US$2,500 (except, as Rick D. points out, maybe to Toyota itself), and a *restored* FJ25 (and I would look VERY CAREFULLY at how the restoration was done) has such a limited market that getting more than US$6K-7K for it is unrealistic, even for a good restoration. There just isn't a market for them...
