Here's the deal, I've got a scout D44 front the I narrowed - finnaly got to putting the new joints in the axles, and they appear to be too large. The bearing caps are the right size, but the joints appear to be 1/4" too wide. The parts I got are 0297 joints.

So here's the question - did any scout D44's use a different joint, or maybe the joints I have were mislabeled?

Don't have a bearing laying down in the cap do ya? (Ask a stupid question ... )

Otherwise, I've seen yokes get crushed from people beating on them, or pressing them wrong.

All the front 44's I've worked on had either the 297's or the wimpy 30 sized (smaller cap) shafts.

Probably not much help.

:emb3: Ok, apparently I had too much, or not enough beer last night. The problem was that there was so much grease in the joint that the caps couldn't be seated completely.

How embarrassing.
