I was at a conference last wed.-fri. and the guy sitting next to me races dirt circle track. We got to talking and the topic of tubing benders came up. He said he used the protools 105 for years and then switched to this http://www.speedwaymotors.com/product.ASP?wc=true&strBase_List=&hilt=&source=2191&base_no=91084100&str_base_no=000-CATALOG+RACE,3007500,60411500,91056421,91073055,91 084100,91085171,91673060,91673070,91689400,&header_title=Race+Products-Cage+Kits&page_name=prod_list_display&search_type=L2~20&search_option=&deptsearch=&dept_id=L2~20&dept_id_p=&dept_name=&dept_name_p=Race+Products&ShowImages=yes&sq=0&cont=1&intPgNo=1&redirect=

He says it's ten times better than the 105 and he'll never go back, what do you guys think/ Has anyone ever used it?? Judd

I think he was pulling your leg. 10 times better then then a protools 105:rolleyes: I think it has been discussed on here before. I can't imagine how many times a person would have to jack that handle to make one bend. Besides that it cost about twice as much as the PT 105.

not a bad price either for a hydrolic

The guys seemed to know his shit, so I was just curious. Me and a buddy are about to buy a bender and just want to check out all our options. I think the thing he liked most about this bender is that it takes up little space. Thanks for the replies, Judd :D

Is it just me or do the welds on that thing look like shite?

Plus the site claims:

"Bends round tubing up to .134 wall" whoopty-doo

Alot of people use 1/8 (.125) tubing, but I would like to see a little more capicity.

If you are going to spend your hard earned money on fab equipment, I wouldn't worry about how much room it takes up. No, I would be more concerned with the ease of operation of the machine. Its cool that it is hydro, but who wants to pump that thing a million times to turn out one roll cage.

But, if you are sold on it, just buy the dies you want -$225 each- an inexpensive hydro jack, and just fab the deal that holds everything together- shouldn't be too difficult.

I just viewed the enlarged picture and was noticing the same thing myself-another reason to fab it yourself-you wouldn't have to worry about the crappy weldz busting under stress-kaboom

on a side note lets talk hausfeld and JD2/105's

we gotta hausfeld bender at the new shop that mt buddy swears by.

I am used to a jd2 model 4 hydro..
it is simple to use, a tad slow but you can bend anything to virtually any angle (almost 210 degrees).
the hausefeld doesn't have a good degree setup. I think it will be good for production work, but sucky for one off stuff..

anybody got input for me..
.

and .134 wall? hahahaha
the jd2 I used to use I bent a peice of 2 inch dom 120 wall sleaved with 1.75 inch 250 wall:eek:

man I was hiding behind a cabnet while pushing that pedal:D

Well you guys have convinced me. I was a little skeptical of what he was telling me but I figures what the hell, this guy bends tube all the time. Guess it looks like a protools 105 for me, thanks guys, Judd :flipoff2:

Pro-Tools offers a bender similar to the one you are talking about. It does have the advantage of portability and not needing to be bolted down. Smaller to store also. These were big +'s for me. Just another choice to fit different peoples needs.

Hossfeld benders are the shit man more capacity than most and they have a die for most anything you want to bend and my angle setup works just fine, its like the jd degree ring just no marks on it.

Actually 115* is the max bend. So if you want to be able to do 180* bends you need to get a different bender.
